RE:VISION by Ariel Namoca

Hey everybody. It has been a long time since the last post. There have been a handful of shoots since last time I posted and for the past month I've been working very hard to get a set of work ready to be shown at a local coffee shop I frequent.

The stars aligned and I found myself in a position to exhibit my art and I had a month and change to have 14 pieces ready to go. The usual wait to have art up in the coffee house is one to one-and-a-half years so I consider myself very fortunate to have the opportunity so soon. I knew it would be tough to have everything ready to go, but I was able to churn out a decent collection regardless.

On April 15th, 2016 I will be having an event at said coffee shop and if you are in the area I would love to have you there. All the information can be found in the above poster and this page.

Thanks for reading and I hope to see you on April 15th!

Athena Alex by Ariel Namoca

What's up everybody,

I recently had the pleasure of collaborating with Athena Alex: A fashion, beauty, and lifestyle blogger. We decided to go shoot some photos in a Post-Winter Storm Jonas wooded area. We took a nice walk, accidentally dipped our feet in a freezing lake and almost lost some toes, but it's all good. It was beautiful out and the weather was on our side. We had a lot of fun and I look forward to future collaborations!

Hawaii in a Nutshell by Ariel Namoca

Alright. So this is a little bit late. I'm not going to lie about it, other than this first paragraph - the one you're reading right now - this caption is a repost of something I put together for Instagram. I typed it up during my last meal in Hawaii. It was this enormous bakery/restaurant hybrid that made steak (my cousin's request for her 16th birthday.) I guess at the time I felt overwhelmed with gratitude and I'm assuming it's a sign of growing up:

"Today is my last day in Hawaii. Unfortunately on this trip, I had a lot of valuables stolen from me: My wallet, cash, cards, ID, my Minolta X-700, two lenses, a smartwatch, and more. It's really shitty and it's definitely a big hit, but at the same time I'm taking it all in stride. I had the opportunity to see beautiful mountains, oceans, and family. I watched my beautiful cousin marry a great man, attended the 1st birthday party of another cousin's baby, and was here for another cousin's 16th. I am so blessed to have even come out to Hawaii from New York and I realize that. I'm at the point in my life where I don't find myself wanting more material items. I'm at the point in my life where I recognize that there are more important things in life than things.

Same Shot, Different Medium by Ariel Namoca

Granted, the two photos are not framed identically and were taken a few minutes apart, but I wanted a juxtaposition of both mediums. Analog (35mm film) is on the left. Digital is on the right. I've been shooting digital for 7 years and I love it, but there is something about the rawness and grittiness of film that I find myself enamored with. It's a look and feel that can be imitated on digital, but can never be replicated.

New Year, New Site by Ariel Namoca

You heard it here first folks. With the new year comes a new site. I'm working on getting a bunch of new pages and accounts up and I'm very excited about it. I've had personal accounts on tumblr, instagram and facebook for years but I'm starting fresh with these new accounts that focus solely on my photographic work. My old site was never a huge focus of mine either. It existed and it was used as a digital portfolio, but that's it. I look forward to making this site a great landing page for anybody looking to see my work.

I'm looking forward to making more photographs and sharing them with you all.
Cheers and I'll see you soon!
